IPOC Case Studies
Detailed case studies, compiled by ISS research interns, of groundbreaking attempts to tackle corruption in Southern Africa are provided here. Each case study provides a brief overview as well as a range of relevant legal documents (legislation and case law), research reports, newspaper clippings and relevant web links. This constitutes a unique attempt to provide researchers with a full picture of these important events, helping to understand the complexity of anti-corruption initiatives.
High profile cases involving alleged corruption and bribery present an opportunity for Southern African organisations and researchers to better understand inherent institutional weakness in governance structures but also to take stock of best practice cases and the positive lessons learnt. In addition, although unresolved, the cases presented are groundbreaking as they highlight a commitment by civil society to combat corruption through close scrutiny and monitoring.
